Freedom is a wonderful gift. It is similar to a coin with two sides. Those of us with a drivers license understand these two concepts every time we get into a car. In your car, where you go, how fast you go, and what route you forget absent are all up to you. You are free to make those choices. However, this freedom also means that you must be responsible. Why does the law require that we have insurance? Because the moment you take control of the vehicle, you become accountable for every one of your actions until your vehicle reaches its destination. You have the freedom to go as fast as you want, provided the law will discipline you if you go too fast. You have freedom to take any road you want, but not every road will take you to your in demand(p) destination. Life is very much like driving. When the duration came for my family and him to decide what the future plan of action would be, they decided he did not want to continue the discourse to only be in pain for maybe a couple extra months. When he passed it was very hard for all of us to accept the news and the decision but in the end it was to receiving the treatment he needed years ago under the Complete Lives System and looking at it now I probably would not want the system to apply.I believe that this system is a step forward in the right direction for our healthcare system but any person is selfish in dealing with one of his or her own friends or family members. While I wouldnt have wanted the system to apply to my family member I could accept the fa ct knowing that the resources necessary too keep him existent could be better used on someone else to increase their quality of life. The Complete Lives System uses a variety of different principles to try and have a concise system in place to steer who receives the appropriate care.At this time it would be hard to put a system like this into place in somewhere such as the United States, but if used appropriately for the correct system it could be considered as an ethical approach to this big question. Some of the opposing viewpoints accurately generate questions about various aspects of the Complete Lives, but I believe that it is a legitimate policy that factors in all aspects of morality.
